Author Topic: Joints in milkshape.  (Read 4394 times)

Hello.
I've made a model and I want to make it a weapon, problem is, I have no idea how to add joints in Milkshape, so if I could get a step by step tutorial that would be great.
I also need the diff names for each joint, like wheel joints are hub0 hub1, etc.

On the thing where you make shapes like boxes, click Joint next to extrude and click where you want it on your model, then go to the 'Joints'. Click on the joint you just placed, it will be called joint1 or something, then.

For where you want the model held, type in 'mountPoint', and click rename.
For where you want it to shoot out of, if it's a gun, call it 'muzzlePoint'.

And to select a joint to move it around, click on Select, then on 'Select options', click Joint. Then click the joint you want to move, and use the move thing.

ok awesome, thanks.
What about where other players sit in a vehicle, and where a player holds a weapon?

Where a player holds a weapon is mountPoint, for the seats, i found this:

    * mount0 -- driver
    * mount1 -- navigator\gunner
    * mount2-8 -- passenger's
    * mount9 -- bomb mount point on the bomber vehicle
    * mount10 -- gun

Awesome, thanks alot man.
What about where a bullet comes out of a weapon?
There is also
Hub0, hub1, hub2 and hub3 for wheels.

For where you want it to shoot out of, if it's a gun, call it 'muzzlePoint'.

Bump! Is there a list of the joint names?

    * mount0 -- driver
    * mount1 -- navigator\gunner
    * mount2-8 -- passenger's
    * mount9 -- bomb mount point on the bomber vehicle
    * mount10 -- gun

I don't need to know this, just expanding on the question.

What about joints where the player holds an object, where an object shoots from, and wheels.

Wheels are called hub0 - hub4, i think.

For the player hand mount that'd be mountpoint, for the Muzzle of a weapons or where it shots out of that'd be muzzlepoint.

Wheels:
hub0 hub1

hub2 hub3

For example hub0 can be where hub1 is as long as they are in the front, they are the mount points of the turning wheels.
