Author Topic: Dell (server?/supercomputer?)  (Read 965 times)

not quite sure how this thing works as i'm not the computer genius in my family (cough my brother) but when i went to florida on vacation a little bit ago my dad was working for a conference interviewing people from Dell and stuff. at the hotel, they had this training session for people from Dell and all that jazz. It was some 3 day training session and they had this huge thing that they were running, like, 50 laptops on.

in all there were 7 of those box things in a row (the 2 in pic 2 are behind the pillar in pic 1). that backpack and coke is mine, if anyone's curious. the second picture is a bit blurry and i'm being lazy so you will not be getting a less blurry version. the specs on it:

yeah don't ask about the 'awesomesauce' thing, people at dell are pretty weird. however, i thought this was pretty cool. i mean, 40TB memory and 1.5TB RAM?

What. In. The. World.

You should have played Black Ops on max settings.

That is a super computer, my friend.  It would be fun to play Blockland on that.

couldn't, they were in a session

i asked my brother what it would be like to host a blockland server off of that
we concluded that if the engine could handle it you could get like millions of bricks

1 Awesomesauce, hah.

But goddamn, 192 CPUs, 40 TB of storage and 1.5 TB of RAM. That's most definitely a supercomputer.

Where can one buy one of these?

Where can one buy one of these?
my dad concluded it's between like half a million and a million but they're obviously not selling the same
yes, i thought to ask that too

Listen: This is not a desktop. It is a server machine. You wouldn't be playing Black Ops on this.

Wow, it also has 1 awesomesause.
My computer has 0 :c

I know that. The point is, the specs. I'm sorry if I offended you by calling it a supercomputer or even a computer, but
i'm not the computer genius in my family
