Author Topic: Non-wheeled vehicles like the ball  (Read 1263 times)

What do I need to worry about when creating one of these? Do I need something special other than the detail32 and shape empties? How to do the collisions?

Edit: On second though I appear to have posted in the wrong forum.

Things should be pretty much the same, I think. Make sure the collision mesh is on a different layer, though.

Why? Tips on how detailed the collision mesh should be? Does the name matter?

Possible collision mesh:

The ball has a very primitive sphere as collision mesh, and the Magic Carpet seems to have none, just a node. Names should be like "Col"

Game crashes when spawning. I have the mesh, "Col" collision mesh, detail32 empty parented to Shape empty.

May I have a look at the blend file?

Barnabas needs to read his PMs more.

The collision mesh should be parented to a Col0 empty, which should be parented to Shape.
Don't parent the collision mesh to detail32 or else it will be drawn, which we don't want.

Done all that but it still crashes. Mesh parented to detail32 parented to Shape. In layer 2 col mesh parented to Col0 parented to Shape.

I had problems with a no-wheels vehicle i tried to create a long time ago.
I didn't find a solution for it, you could try to play with the massbox a bit though.

What's a massbox? I'm just copying the ball vehicle script and replacing the model.

Honestly? I have no idea.
It has something to do with the masspoint, the center of the vehicle's mass.
I have no idea though what the numbers should be.
I would just try some massboxes, such as the Jeep's.
