Author Topic: Pc pricing and shizz  (Read 784 times)

So, this christmas, I'm getting a Laptop. I want to be able to play WoW, blockland and minecraft, Easily with no lag, (This computer sucks with minecraft) and I have 900$ to spend. I want atleast 2gb of RAM. Any gaming computers i could get that are decent for this price range?

Any computer with a separate video card, now a days, will be able to run those games. Do you want to order the Laptop online or go to a store and buy it?

$700, use the spare $200 to to buy any accessories like an extra charger, a better battery, cooling pad, etc.

Well this laptop is 5 years old and runs WoW and BL smoothly. It has built in video card and 1gb RAM. So Would i be better off improving ram and buying new video card? (If possible)

You can't replace the GPU in a laptop.  All you can do is add RAM and that's it in terms of beneficial upgrades.  Generally upgrading anything else in a laptop is incredibly hard except maybe the hard drive in some laptops, and even then you have to make sure it actually works with the laptop not just by socket and power consumption but in terms of design such as size, heat displacement, etc.

tl;dr: buy a new laptop.

Ok i see. The thing is, I would love to not. I have used this laptop for 5 years, it runs fine still and its kinda neat. But, I do want to play more high end games. I want to play L4D2 but i know for sure this cant handle it. I think next week i will upgrade RAM. Then if I want i can buy a new laptop at bestbuy (Probably not, maybe NE furniture mart or online)

You know, the laptop I suggested would still do all the things you'd want and more...

Unless you want to run like old pre-Windows XP games or something...

Upgrading the RAM will just speed up your system a little bit.  Your GPU will likely still render the same graphics (still be unable to play L4D2) and your CPU will maybe have an incredibly miniscule performance increase.  Otherwise you'll notice maybe some programs loading up faster, loading times a little less, thats it.

You could get away with spending only $600 on a Laptop and still run those games smoothly. Then use the other $300 to buy games you couldn't run before!

This loving laptop was 450$. Idk how much it is now, (12$) but If 600$ can buy me a computer like that, AUJGBA. Then WTF is with that Alienware stuff thats 3,000$?

ok first: what the forget is a AUJGBA .. it looks like you had a seizure on your keyboard

second: alienware is overpriced dell bullstuff. go for toshiba or something if you really need a laptop.

If you're looking for a laptop, this is the one that I use: http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15r/pd
Runs any game that I played smoothly, including Blockland and Minecraft, and I'm sure it will work fine for WoW.

Alienware have great computers, just overpriced tremendously.

Buying any desktop that's pre built will always cost a stuff-ton more than building one.

Also, laptops are dumb as forget for gaming. Get one for school or some stuff. Get a desktop for gaming.

1. Lolidid
2. I guess your right, no game requires 4gb of RAM and top of the line stuff. I have been "researching" for awhile. I have made my decision. I'm going to buy a Intel Gaming laptop.

AND laptops = Mobile, cuter, cheaper, less space needy, quieter

laptops are not cheaper. a gaming desktop will cost less than a gaming laptop with the same specs.
