Author Topic: Livestream Topics and Piracy  (Read 1169 times)

I was questioning whether or not to put this in Off-Topic as its not really a rant as much as a question, but if it needs to be moved there then a moderator will move it. So please refrain yourself from spamming the topic with idiocy.

Anyway, Im confused as to how these topics do not break the piracy rule? Especially Gamefandans where he even admitted to it :/

http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=158059.0 << Gamefandan
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=158761.0 << Sk8GameFreak

Theyre both streaming movies, which I thought was illegal on its own, but even if its not Im pretty sure theyre just going ahead and downloading them. I dont have any proof against Sk8GameFreak, but heres a quote from Gamefandan:

I'm watching some awesome stuff right now, it took me three days to download this season, so it should be good! :D
Wait what. So you downloaded Pokemon and then broadcast it? Thats piracy
(You can click the quote to see that I quoted him, I couldnt do it directly because he edited the OP)

And his response:

Yup, it is! :D

STREAM IS UP GUYZ LOL

Is there a reason they havent been banned? I mean their topics have been up for a while, so Im sure Badspot checked it at some point. How exactly isnt this piracy?

i alredy spoke out against this. its 100% defiantly ilegal and just as bad as piracy

Is it illegal to watch a movie with your friends? Nope. He's not giving us a download link, is he? He's playing a DVD for us, not distributing.

Piracy is for weak, poor men.

Gamefandan said he downloaded it. The method of acquisition was most likely illegal. The broadcasting, not so much, but still.

actually is completely ilegal because the internet is considered public and showing a motion picture in public is a violation of copyright laws.

if u were at his house that would be diffrent, but its the itnernet.

i dident make a topic but i would post info on copyright laws and how it is violating them but i get flamed out the thred so i stop.

also badspot dosent seem to care so its fiting a losing battel because the only thing that would make them stop is their conscience which they dont have.

Are you handicapped?

Piracy as you well know is the DISTRIBUTION of copyrighted works.

Live streaming it is an ENTIRELY different matter.

Piracy has mixed rights/wrongs in my opinion.  Depends on what you're pirating and what it's for.

This I wouldn't really put right or wrong, just stupid.  Broadcasting a movie he downloaded and then telling a forum where talking about piracy is against the rules about it.

u r a fukin idiot. livestreaming it is legaly a public showing and public showings of copy righted works is illegal w/o the authos consent.

I could have sworn he said he was using a DVD. And whether or not this is public is debatable.

Yes but livestream.com only registers private accounts unless featured. So only people he gives the link to can watch. He can only stream up to 50 people so it's pretty much just streaming to friends.

I just have to go off topic here to say you have no right to call anyone an idiot when you say "u r a fukin"

I thought there was a topic on this before
and it was OK to do
