Author Topic: Help with a French AC plug (Read 2181 times)

Well, I just got back from a huge trip in France, and I brought a new camera there. It came with a plug, but as I do not live in France, it does not fit in our plugs. We got an adapter and we plugged it in, but it's been 3-4 hours and the camera has not charged. At all. Is there a specific way around the plug has to be and what does it do to the battery/camera if the plug is around the wrong way around?

You might be better off buying an NZ plug for your camera. Also, since European plugs have two pins only, you can't really mess that up, so it's probably the adapter's fault.

American plugs and <every other type of plug> do not go well together. I found this out after melting a few chocolate bars on my adapter. :D

Britian uses 3 pronged plugs. Rest of europe uses 2.

Ireland does too. Doesn't stop me from jamming the 2 pin plug into the 3 pin outlets though.

My room has two two-prong outlets and two three-prong ones.
I don't know why.
I would prefer four three-prong outlets because you can still plug two-prong plugs into three-prong outlets, but not the other way around.

The 3 pins are the safest ones as well.

What are the specs of your adapter? I remember plugging my laptop on a shaver adapter once and the fuse didn't like it that much.

Yes, it is a USB plug for my camera, I tried it on my computer but it didn't work.
