Author Topic: Freezing while watching video. [Overheating?]  (Read 669 times)

My laptop freezes alot when I watch videos. If I turn my computer back on it happens faster. Every time it cuts my computer time by about 5 minutes before I have to restart. This only really happens late at night after it's been on all day. I'll be watching Reaper and Sam will be like "And-d-d-d-d-d--d-d-d--d-d-d-d-d-d-d--d-d-d-d--d-d-d-d--d-d-" until I shut it off. How can I tell if this is because of overheating?

...Does your laptop feel hot?

What surface is it on when this happens?

Laptops have incredibly inferior cooling systems compared to computers. They overheat 24/7. Try keep your laptop on a cool surface. Not on your lap, because then it will overheat worse. (lol, laptop. should be tabletop.... wait a second..)

My lap is actually one of the few places mine won't overheat.

Hey, mine overheats when you turn it on. :D
I spilled a pint of water over it once though. Hasn't been the same since.

My laptop once overheated to the point that it literally fried the keyboard. Had to buy a new one on Amazon and swap it out. Now when it's on a surface I find something to prop it up on :V

Everyone seems to have a problem with laptops overheating but me. Mine can get warm, but certainly never overheats.
I tried running Crysis on it (It was horrible, I don't even wana think about it. :S) and it got warm, but didn't get hot. My cat crawls up to the side with the air vent and it's cute, though. :D

My laptop crashed once, Overheated.
I think some of the wires were melted, so I needed to buy a new part for my Laptop.
I don't remember what part trough...

i found my cat asleep on my dads laptop a few days ago

At one point I had my laptop on 24/7 in a hot room used as a server, downloading stuff, creating wifi, and a bunch of other stuff and it was still cool.

Didn't happen tonight. I moved the pillow that was under it when sitting on this ass fitting chair. Thanks guys.

I find that windows vista on a laptop never works that great. I mean, the laptop that overheated for me had 3gb of ram and a 2.8Ghz dual core processor. Not much worse then my current computer. My computer will get semi hot on the inside, but nothing threatening. The laptop burns you. I have windows 7 on my computer as well.

Maybe it's just because I have a single core 2.2ghz Intel Celeron processor in my laptop.
It gets the job done. Don't need any more, that's why I have a desktop.
