Author Topic: steam is pissing me off  (Read 664 times)

okay, everytime I turn off my computer, wake up the next day, and turn the computer on, Steam has to update.
When I finish updating, I have to reinstall EVERYTHING. Also, when I update, it puts crap all over my desktop.
What do I do.
also it asks me about the steam guard everytime I start steam.

I have a similar problem, except I only have to update it.

Did you install it to your desktop? I bet you did and it keeps updating because you delete the stuff it puts on your desktop every time.

I don't know if I installed it to my desktop, how do I change that?
I don't delete the files, I put them in a folder. Does that ruin it?

Yes, moving their position ruins it. And you did install it to the desktop I'm sure. Re-install Steam but change the installation path.

If I reinstall steam, do I have to reinstall my games :(

Back up your steamapps folder and when you re-install Steam paste it into Steam's main folder. If it asks to overwrite say yes. Your games will not need to be re-installed if you do this.

Hmm..
Well, how the balls do I back it up. I'm too lazy to do that right now.
If I just take out the files from the folder every night when I turn off the computer, would that work?
Because steam and the games seem to work when I have the files in the folder.

You simply copy the steamapps folder to back it up. And maybe taking the files out from the folder every night would work, I'm not sure though.

I just tried to start teamfortress and it said I couldn't play at this time :(

I thought you were smarter than this...
