Author Topic: Virus of some sort.  (Read 2279 times)

My computer has been extremelly messed up lately.
I have some kind of virus where every 30 minutes, my internet browser opens itself to a page titled ad,fly so if I leave it on for a day i come back to 20+ pages on my screen.
I have no idea how this happened but norton doesn't register as anything being wong with my computer and I have not found a solution to the problem.

The problem: Norton.

I'm not joking.

lolnorton

Is there any kind of process running the virus?

LOL I love how you guys hate on norton and Ive never had a problem with it at all.

I did.
2 fatal viruses compromised my other computer, during the infection Norton sat back and did loving nothing while we had to clean the hard drive.

This is important.

Mhmmm, Norton blocks the attack before it even tells me. Ive never had a virus while using norton.

Yeah.
But once its in the system Norton does nothing about it.

I've had my share of viruses, for the most part, if it's a decent virus, it'll turn off all security features, anything to keep it from loving up your computer.

Best offense:

Open Task manager
Look for a process running that looks like it's made of completely random characters
Go to the file location
Double check to make sure it isn't a core file
End the process, delete the file
Reboot in safemode
Run a system restore to a point where you didn't have any problems, or before that just to be safe.
^Run a full system scan somewhere in these steps

To prevent this stuff from happening again:

Stop watching gay research
Stop going to weird internet sites
Stop downloading gay research
Freeware has a virus attached
Start up every part of your security program's features.
Delete your temporary internet files

HNNNG this is what I was trying to do.

Some viruses will restart when there processes are ended.
I know this from experience, so task manager isn't always the solution.

You could always go to the process location and safely remove it, though.
