lol you can just move the first layer you want to merge above the other.

i'm not denying that photoshop is better, because i'm damn well positive it is, i'm just saying GIMP can and usually will get the job done in almost as many cases as photoshop.

not when the thing you're trying to do is dependent on having certain layers be more than one above or below others.

but I digress, GIMP is very powerful and is also a lot less CPU/memory-whoring than Photoshop.

about two years ago I was doing something in photoshop and just happened to look at the processes tab of my task manager and photoshop was using over 2 million KB of my memory, which is equivalent to almost 2 GB.
