Lets talk about ponies but mainly Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow Dash was a cool pony in the beginning of S1 then she swapped personalities and became a bitch. Opinions?

 I find certain fanworks and even the show occasionally (cough Maredowell cough) sometimes toss Dash's connection with Loyalty out the window in favor of showing her as completely tactless.

Those two links go to posts by Rainbow_D_Dash. He makes amazingly solid arguments on all points on her personality.

She isn't a bitch, she's an egoist and has constantly shown herself to be a fantastic friend, a selfless individual, a damn hard worker, and the element of loyalty for a reason.

Fine, RD isn't always a bitch but she just always seems to have a terrible smugness and "I am better then you" attitude and I hate that.

I feel like she's never portrayed right in the show. Wish they would go with the more popular fanon on her. There's a redditor that has my favorite version of her. Only shows up in hate threads.

I can say Rarity isn't protrayed right in the show and she is really a holocaust survivor but that doesn't change stuff.

Y'know, I liked your answer a lot more before you edited. When i say more popular fanon I don't mean the random ideas that people crap out, I mean the widely accepted basis for how the character is portrayed in most media. Fact hmm? Just like Derpy?

fanon has no place in reality and holds no value to me

rainbow dash's character is both admirable and unappealing in certain situations. she can be heroic, brave and confident at times, but can also egotistical, self-centered, and overly competitive

she's a well-balanced mix if you ask me
i tend to see the more positive side of her attributes when she's around; quite recently too i've seen her become a bit more compassionate towards Fluttershy's weakness

It just annoys me when people critique her character without solid evidence and no real understand of why she acts the way she does.

the only thing i don't like about fanon is how it typically twists a character so far from their actual character
i'm all for creativity, but that's what "original" characters are for

also, it's amusing to see Rainbow D Dash get so detailed about her personality
