In the fanfic "The Conversion Bureau" it depicts a time when humanity has driven the global economy to stuff, there are wars, genocide, unemployment blah blah blah. When SUDDENLY and island appears off the U.S. coast and it's equestria. Equestria is suffering from overpopulation.

What do they do? They move to the human world. Eventually, seeing the state of things in our world, they develop with the help of human scientists, a way of ponification in order to usher in an age of peace, harmony, and love.

Many and most people jumped at the opportunity yet some threw themselves against it. Those against it were called the Human Liberation Front. They are terrorists and fight to save mankind from this salvation through destruction.
