the reason why that scenario fits with the fandom is because they're going the same direction.

hot tub - naked dudes all like the hot tub (MLP franchise) so they all sit in it (discuss the fandom)
fandom - mostly dudes, all like the MLP Franchise (hot tub) so they all discuss it (sit in the hot tub)

what happens
hot tub - someone, no matter how straight you are, WILL eventually pop a boner. (Some brony will post some hot pic of Twilight etc.)
fandom - some brony posts a hot pic of Twilight, someone pops a boner (you get where im going.)

1. Hey wow this show is really cool! Hmmm maybe I should try drawing my own pony! :D

2. Wow this show is really cool but not as much as (Insert main character here) I wish I was with them in some way D: I KNOW! I'll draw my own pony and ship mine with theirs! BRILLIANT!

i also hate how i've only found 2 good fanfics for MLP.
all the rest either have stuffty grammar or ship the main characters with loving OC.
