Maybe they chose to exist in those forms so they could directly interact with other ponies.
They aren't gods they're manipulative politicians. Everyone knows we live in a heliocentric universe and not a geocentric. We also know that the movements of celestial bodies are results of gravitation and Einstein's laws of relativity. Not magic.

As said before, the first two episodes sucked.

The show is for everyone because everyone had different tastes of shows, bronies happen to have a taste for this show. Just let people go by their own tastes. (Unless those tastes really happen to be bad [Ex. Hate, crime, etc])
