I've no idea apparently, even if spike lives on his own without twilight, she would not be around by then, what do you think?

If you dig through Equestria Daily's archives you can find a fanfic about Spike growing up.
It's kinda unlikely though, considering the difference between the length of a pony's life and that of a dragon.
