Originally, I thought Luna was acting a bit evil and whatnot.
After watching it a second time, I realized she was just upset and frustrated. She only wanted the ponies to love her.

Her only problem is acting like it's still 1000 years ago.

It was a great episode. It didn't top "Lesson Zero" in terms of hilarity, but it was definitely a fun episode.

Lunas new character design looks good, but the way she speaks is just downright annoying.

her appearance is dark because it is nighttime, unless we see her during the day in a future episode and it remains that way.
As for her 17th-century speech, she'll probably lose that before we see her again. it's a bit annoying, yes.
