i only used photoshop to import a video file to make the layers, deleted irrelevant layers, saved, opened in GIMP>made gif through process(cropping, scaling, timescale, etc)

I pretty much do the same, but without Photoshop.

Tbh Gimp + GAP (Gimp animation package) = surpeme ruler of video to GIF making.

I have Photoshop 5 Extended and I'm yet to be amazed by it's video to GIF abilities.
