Someone explain the affinity for Lyra and her friend, I don't think I've seen them in the show and I don't understand the fascination surrounding them.
Lyra & Bon-bon are purposely put together on a regular basis according to the animators because of their color scheme synergy. It's also likely that they continue to do it as an appeal to the fans.
The pair has very few canon attributes, which consist almost entirely of Lyra appearing to enjoy
sitting on benches "human-style" and Bon-bon having
several different voices (the latter of which has become a running joke in the series it seems because she has at least 5 different voices at this point). Lyra only recently got
her voice during the Season 2 Finale.
Fanon generally includes Lyra having an intense fascination with humans and human characteristics (hands, pants, etc.) because of her unusual sitting style and tendency to jump up at the back of the crowd staring excitedly at what would be the "camera", as well as being best friends (and in some cases, yes, in a romantic relationship) with Bon-bon.
