weeaboo is a name (more of an insult, i believe) used to reference people who have an extreme obsession with the japanese culture
it is often used towards people who just enjoy anime as well


i don't think anyone really hates the cartoon for being a cartoon. they might not enjoy it, but that would be it. the "hate" is towards the fans, the reasons can vary from how they act to what they do. the cartoon is the reason the fans exist, so it's simple to just use the show as the base
