Whether or not it's legitimate isn't the issue. The issue is that when I start arguing I don't stop until I've done something stupid enough to be banned for it. God knows I've proved that over and over.

practice "pulling yourself" away from an argument, without commenting about it too. saying "i'm done with this discussion" and whatnot doesn't really help
distract yourself with other things and forget about it

if it's a tedious and pointless discussion it shouldn't be focused on.

i'm assuming he wants comfort or ways to handle the situation, and my suggestion would be to leave it alone, but the topic is rather vague. it just seems like blank statement

if i found out someone i knew personally was a furry, or had severely odd special interestes (in my own opinion that is), i wouldn't even bring it up

you have to open the settings page and enable the sidebar, it's off by default
