Regardless, the horse from Saddle Arabia had no cutie mark, so perhaps those are limited to a certain particular variety... or maybe it's a form of cultural magic? Zecora certainly seems to have one...

Ah, that would make sense. So cutie marks are probably just specific to the "pony" subraces.
However, the actual appearance of a horse that lacks one makes you wonder if there are "horse" variants of Unicorns and Pegasi.

Yep. Despite enjoying ponies, I find the countless "species conversion crossovers" to be annoying.
