out of curiosity, what's the appeal to /mlp/?
i've been checking it out a few days in the last week or so and it feels no different than the rest of 4chan. perhaps i don't know how to navigate 4chan in general, but every "safe" thread i walk into is the same old stufffest of insults and circlejerks 4chan is just known for
i've yet to see any real discussion in the hundreds of posts in a single thread, which is like crawling through garbage to find a diamond ring
I really only pay attention to MLP General (and sometimes the various image dump threads or whatever else looks interesting), they're the spiritual successors to the MLP threads on /co/
there's still a fair share of drama but honestly I don't mind, it's fun sometimes, and other times I just hide it and read between the lines so to speak
and since everything is in real time (to some extent, if you've got the page set to check for new posts every so often, I use 4chan X) things happen faster, no waiting for new posts to get voted up by the few people who dare to monitor the "new" queue on reddit, that's how I knew how many episode were in S4 so quickly
there are also constant art requests being done by several talented artists, so new content is frequently being pumped out that I don't think otherwise sees the light of day most of the time
it's obviously a dark, tasteless, crude place that's not for everyone but honestly that's one of the main reasons I love it
