they are making a spin-off series where supposedly the main six find a portal to a human world and attend highschool for what ever reason (< rumored description). a movie is also being made, and rumors are pointing toward it being the starting point

it won't have anything to do with the core Friendship is Magic show, the team is unlikely to even be working on this new show. we'll find out more whenever comiccon happens this year

they're trying to make it geared towards young female teenagers, and a supposed leaked sceneshot makes it look like a bratz tv show
if the movie is essentially episode one, i'm unlikely to ever check it out (i'm not watching 66 minutes of this thing lol)

but again, most of this is speculation. Hasbro has only confirmed that they're making a movie and a new FIM-related intellectual property. the internet has found the other puzzle pieces, and only one of them was worth jack (it being a human tv series)
