If you read my post last night I got back into watching MLP after a year or two slump.

Figures that the episode I began re watching was coincidentally named "It's about time"
Oh yeah, must've not read it thoroughly.

Usually alot of my posts end up as the very last one and it goes to the next page :/

That happens to me a lot too. But hey, look! we have the first four posts on this page! ^_^

Boy do I know that feeling.

Anyways, so Bisjac was saying in that "bronypassions" thread a while back (that one where me and Kimon and later one other guy basically took the trollbait) that the entire fandom is basically handicaps who didn't get that the thing was "a joke from the very beginning", and that prettymuch the entire early fandom was nothing but people richarding around trolling and joking. Cybersix claims this is true (and allegedly knows 4chan so well that it must be true!), but given that both of them have a history of being richards to groups they don't like, I'm wondering if what they said had any actual basis in reality.

I realize that to an extent it shouldn't matter anymore, it's not what it started as but what it is now, but they also said it still is a "joke fandom" and therefore everyone in it is faking it or handicapped/dumb/dense/etcetra.

Does anyone have any information on the actual beginnings of the fandom, and (if Bisjac is in fact correct) at what point it converted from "joke" to "serious"? Cause so far I've had no luck.

Boy do I know that feeling.

I think some people watched it as a joke but it turned out to be good and people liked it. Thats what I heard anyways.

That's what I heard and that's what I said but Bisjac and Cybersix insisted I was wrong and was stupid for believing it was serious.

Just ignore them for now and watch ponies.

It's best to ignore starting an argument with them anyways.

Idk why you're even investigating this because stuff spewed from their mouths is refuse, and should be treated as such.

It's incredible that someone's defining trait is being willfully ignorant.

True. I guess I'll leave it be lol

Funny how key players in the BLF Biggest Douche on the Internet contest try to comment on bronies like they know wtf they're talking about. Like I'm supposed to trust the opinions of an outsider who's already bent on thinking the worst of us because you're simply not supposed to respect a community that watches My Little Pony. What bugs me is that the conflict is never just a difference of opinion with these people; It always has to be intelligent and sophisticated vs. idiotic and gay bandwagon.

I never even read the bronypassions thread because I knew it was going to be like this. "Look at what they did now, everyone! Point and laugh at how pathetic they are!" That's how it always goes and it's a very clear sign that they're short on anything constructive and have nothing to throw but the same old hateful "trolling." They aren't worth anyone's time or attention.

You've got mostly a point there. I did manage to get Crispy (whose old account, Christopher P., was banned for making a huge drama on bronies in general and making an "i'm done just loving ban me you cunts" partway through) to an interesting survey which refuted the standard claims. I will just ignore Bisjac next time he goes on another firestorm, though.
