Author Topic: Good starter computer parts for $300-400  (Read 1615 times)

Ok, so I changed my mind about computer parts and I want to build a starter computer that I can add more onto it later. My budget is $300-400. This does not include OS, monitor, and other stuff. I'll try to find some parts too.

I'll be building a AMD computer with a ATI graphics card.

well for 300-400 you wont be able to get a gpu in there for sure, I don't think you can even get a half decent computer for that little

Poppyrooster. If he isn't buying an OS, is keen on buying package deals/sales, and cuts corners as far performance and in some arenas, quality, he should be able to sneak in there for around 400.

Now, of course, at this price range he'd be better suited just buying a prebuilt, and there's no way he's going to get performance parts for that price, but he could build a computer on that budget.

$420.

There's $25 in rebates for both products in total, so if you do those it'll be approximately $395 without shipping/taxes.

But what about a hard drive?

Well, first if it will save money for upgrading other things at the moment I don't need 4GB memory right at this moment. And I don't need a big hard drive right now also.
EDIT: Maybe buy a cheaper motherboard? I don't need like 50 expansion slots.

My suggestion would be a great computer, and would only require a video card upgrade in the future as well as maybe RAM. But as it is over budget we could cut cost somewhere. I have to go out, will try and resolve it when I get home.

Hmm, it seems like Ethan's is a better deal.

I spent 600$, but the desktop was 400$. I added a monitor (120$) and a raedon 5770 (110$) graphics card. But, if you have a monitor, get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229265
and then if you have 110$ left over get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161
To most of you this seam stuffty, but it can run TF2 l4d2 wow and other games for me with virtually no lag, but, i highly suggest the Gcard, or atleast a 5670.

I think i'll just stick with ethan's.
So I added this:

Could anyone find a smaller, cheaper but still good AM3 motherboard?
