Putting them side by side, I think the TouchPad just needs time to develop, it's looking like a pitiful attempt right now. Looks like they didn't even try. Meh.

I doubt that there will be an iPad killer if tablets stay how they are.  The problem is that the iPad is the real deal, it was the first one out there, it will stay number 1 if there is absolutely no innovation.  I don't get why this is mirrored all of the time.  See: World of Warcraft, Counter Strike, Call of Duty, etc.

Xoom matched it for the most part, but the Apple brand and quality of build...and quality of...everything is just too powerful to slow down at this point. It's too late in the game for companies to try to beat it out. Apple got started at just the right point, where they could release an innovative new product, and have time to expand on that idea, because they had more time to flesh it out in the first place. Same would be the case if Motorola had tried the tablet in the first place, so in the end it's the matter of timing I think.

One thing I hate about apple, YouTube takes forever to load a video.

I know, right?  I really hate HP as well.  Google takes a while longer to load on their machines.  I heard that Dell specially makes their computers so they load webpages faster than the other leading brands.  I hope they fix the facebook loading bug in the next update though, it's running slowly at the moment.

Most of those companies have iOS apps out now, unless you mean research.

Having owned a few EeePC devices in my time, all of different breeds and styles, I probably wouldn't buy another Eee product just because they are only good hardware wise... the software is always crap on the devices.

iPad will always be no. 1 because, as said above, they were the first. They can always be ahead if they want to, its a market share Apple literally created and its a concept they made popular with a very efficient app store and concept that took everyone by storm. Most people think apps > Apple device. Few people ever go O YA ANDROID.

they don't have java either.

Who even uses Java anymore? Only time I've ever actively used Java on a webpage was for the Power toy a few years back.

Flash is still pretty rampant on the Internet... I could live without, if I really care that much about Flash content I'll just load it on my laptop. Flash to me is almost always only for ads and games.
