Author Topic: Why are people ID tribals?  (Read 7648 times)

My 830 obviously never gets discriminated, however my 24110 does a LOT. Then again, all I do is link them to proof such as RTB ID search and then they shut their yappers

but ID really does mean nothing other than you've been here longer. I've seen plenty of 20k's+ that build better than lower id's, act more mature, etc. etc.

I don't discriminate, I say that higher IDs have lower ages and usually lower intelligence levels.

Once I figured out "blockhead" was considered "noobish" I changed it in game but not on the forums.  I was in a server and someone who must have bought the game 5 minutes ago was Banned instantly and the admins laughed.  Ther name was blockhead2800 something.  We where all noobs once.

I do not have the highest 'nor the lowest ID. (14128)

I fully agree with this post. Judging people by ID is foolish. Anybody in the community of Blockland who has ever judged someone by ID does not deserve their low ID, for they abuse this right. Everybody claims that a low ID is such a "Big deal." Get a life and stop discriminating people's IDs, morons.

I see a 29k or 30k id join my server
I instantly make expectations about what this person will do in the server and how I can expect to interact with them.
I see a 4 digit id join my server.
I make different expectations on what this person will do and how I plan on interacting with them.

Often during a conversation with someone, I will quickly open the player menu and look at their ID.  If I thought they were acting noobish, but then see that they have like a 1k id (happens too often), I will realize that the person is probably trolling, and deal with them differently than if I see they have a very high ID and know that they are new to the game.

I rarely make assumptions about IDs in the middle range.

My ID is 20242... :/
I was hoping for something better since I bought BL in 2009.

But no one ever says anything about my ID, nor do I say anything about anyone else's ID. So.....

To all the new players who feel they are being ID descriminated:
It used to be SOO much worse, you dont see it very often now but before it was like if your ID was over 10K you deserved the death sentance.

There's always going to be join date elitism and there's nothing you can do about it. It's perfectly natural for people to gloat about being a member of something longer than another person. This isn't exactly an isolated thing.

Most of the forum here are older IDs. If we make it unacceptable, we can increase the amount of people with older IDs to change their attitude. It can be done.

It shouldn't be treated as a serious form of discrimination obviously since its not a serious thing; enough to get Badspot's attention, though. If even he tried to put a plug on it, its worth pursuing.

I bet it can't. You're trying to change a very deep thing, it won't work.

This reminds me of when I first joined a server as Blockhead807 or whatever the format was.
The people I met were actually helpful. I miss those days. :c

I'm not so sure, there is a lot of support in general and in this thread. The only problem is making the people in-game who aren't involved here get the message, that might not be possible.

The only way that would have any impact would be if ID's were removed and the join dates on the forums were cleared. That's not going to happen and the problem is never going to be fixed.

It would suck if that happened anyway.

Exactly. So people just need to ignore the elitists and get on with playing the game instead of being so damn sensitive.
