One or more of your RAM sticks may not be compatible with your system board, or may be faulty.
Try removing some RAM and see if the limit changes.

Strange, even for 32bit it still should be able to use 3.5 gigs.

It should be able to read more. I used a computer with 32-bit Vista and it recognized 4GB.

it says it can use 4 but that only 2.5 is available

After that last post, I am majorly confused. Are you saying that almost half you RAM is being used, or not recognized?

it says it has 4 gb and that only 2.5 is able to be used by anything which means 1.5 gb disappeared

32 bit only supports roughly 3.5 GBs of RAM, however, I believe that your system may be using 1Gb of shared video memory, but that's a lot for shared memory. It's usually only 64 mb or 128 mb.

Don't know if this will help at all.

osht really?
/buy

um hello standby is filled because im running 4 or 5 programs right now

why is 1.5 gb reserved for the BIOS and GPU?

You have an integrated video card. Integrated video cards need to use RAM because the tiny chip can't hold any of it's own on it.
