Author Topic: Too Far?!? Modifying max distance?  (Read 2964 times)

Hello Folks.

I just wanted to ask if it is possible to change the maximum distance where you can place bricks?

Would be quite handy if I want to create something that is a little bigger with macros.

I think this has been hard coded (not using any global variables, prefs) either in the .dso or even the exe. Either way it'd be hard to change them. Sorry.

But he did it for a lag/memory reason obviously (hopefully) because it wouldn't degrade the quality of the game and, as some people (idiots) call it, 'realism'.

and to stop 100000m spam :D

And to make sure someone can't stand 1-2 miles away and build random crap spam and people would have to try to hammer it so it'd go "*name of spammer* doesn't trust you" (Ofcourse, only for servers where they don't know how to simply get the name, but it';d still take a code entering of button pressing to get who it is...unless you are sure about it)

Same as Terror, now that I think about it...wasn't sure if you meant like towers where you could see them at the bottom :P....mine gives more explanation

It pandas with the baseplates though, when I try and make a huge square with 48 x 48 - 64 x 64's it will say too far even when I'm standing 2 inches next to it.

Ya, it show be extended to around 96x96, that way you can at least do 64x64's :P I know, you wanna make 48 of them next to each other but making distance hat big means allowing far away spam.

I could make it check against the edge of the brick instead of the center.  That would fix the baseplate problems without allowing far away spam. 

hows about changing the too loud distance when your outside the radius at which you can hear the music?  :cookieMonster:

The music distance is set so that you can't place overlapping music bricks.  Even if you can't hear music, when you add more music you'll create a huge zone of overlapping sound.  The music isn't ideal but I'm not sure how to make it better without letting people spam huge cacophonous areas. 

hows about we turn the evil spherical radius into a nice cube?

Well I'd kind of like it to be able to fill an area - like expand to fill a room or cover the area over a baseplate - but I'm not sure how that would be shown to you or how it would work really. 

just give an option to then the "too loud" and "Too Far" in IGSO. or somewhere else. IDK.

Make music a wrench option for bricks, and then depending on the size of the brick make it expand something like:

M=(B/2)+B    Where M=music distance and B= brick size. (not really code, just an example)

so that the music covers the size of the brick+ the size off half the brick in all directions (so every other 64x64 brick would cover the ones in between, but then you could have smaller radius's based on the brick sizes.

And then you can dewrench people and they cant make music. or add a "demusic" option that would make music adding for super admins only unless you turn it off

I would also like to request a  "server music" selection in the IGSO that could be set for a certain song to play on the entire server
