Author Topic: So, My PayPal account was limited.  (Read 763 times)

Today, I bought a prepaid visa debit card and added it to my PayPal account. About 10 minutes later, it said my account was limited for "suspicious activity on credit card," which is bullstuff.
I contacted support over the phone, and I told her what's going on. She told me to provide Photo ID. Me being 14 and all, I don't have and ID.
So, basically, I just sat on hold for 45 minutes to get told this "Wait until you're 18 and then we can remove the limitation."
YEAH. I'M GOING TO WAIT FOUR YEARS FOR THAT TO HAPPEN.
I had to literally hold myself back from saying "You're a stupid loving bitch that's four years from now god damnit"
I was also told that now I can't even use this loving visa card with PayPal due to the fact that it's added only to a limited account.
God DAMNIT. I'm really pissed off right now. The only good thing about this is I was going to buy a $100 visa prepaid debit card later, and if I had added that today I would have had $100 down the drain instead of $25.
And yes, I do realize that you have to be 18 to open an account, don't give me that stuff. I opened this so I could buy things with PayPal. Doesn't everyone do that?

tl;dr paypal is loving stupid. rant rant rant

once paypal started offering lines of credit and savings accounts, they became a bank lol.
but they are owned by ebay, and was created FOR ebay use. it could just be a way for them to tighten the belt at the site, and make it harder for fraud; having to provide so much ID and proof of bank accounts and such.

ebay/paypal insure you for your loss. that costs a ton, there are pain in the ass ways to cut down on that, and there you are being forgeted by it lol

Tell them youre 18 next time.

Wait, since when did you need an ID?

And do what? Draw a Photo ID out of crayon and scan it on my scanner and turn that into them?

Since when your account gets limited. For verification purposes.

Don't you need to be 18 to use Paypal?

Next time don't lie about your age and have your parents do it.

if you got ripped off by sellers on ebay, or even many retailers that use paypal for acceptance. paypal will out of thier own pocket, pay you that money back.
while dealing with the criminal side of that person themselves.

but we are talking millions and millions of dollars a day. it cant be stopped, but maybe cut down. thats why we have all this security and crap now. so much proof of ID.
even credit cards and bank accounts are required for certain buyer and seller accounts.

Don't give me that stuff. I just quickly opened an account to buy things with it. I'm pretty sure lots of people under 18 do that.
Plus my mother doesn't approve of PayPal, nor buying things over the internet in general. She wouldn't have opened one for me.

Yes, but you can't blame Paypal when you broke rules they have for a reason.

I do have a bank account, and I'm 15, and I was planning to get paypal in the future, but from reading this thread, I've no idea if I should get one.

Play it out safe and wait until you're 18, or have your parent open one for you. So you don't have to wait three years to spend money if you get limited.

Ah ok, sounds like a good idea, thanks.

Guess I'll get my mommy to make one under her name.
