Author Topic: Sending Punch Packet/Port Forwarding Issues?  (Read 2294 times)

Hey. I've been able to host Blockland in the past after port forwarding, but after a few breaks from the game and a new desktop, I am having troubles port forwarding once again.

When people try to join, the box says 'Sending Punch Packet', rather that 'Sending Connection Prompt' or whatnot. This is usually a sign of not properly port forwarded.

Since the time that I rejoined the game, I think that we had also gotten a new router, a Belkin. ( Serial Number - F5D8236-4 v1 ). I have tried using both Badspot's and
Ephialtes' tutorials, and ran into problems with both of them. For Ephialtes' tutorial with Portforward.com, I understand what he is saying to do, but ran into a problem that my Router's Serial Number - F5D8236-4 v1 - was not on the list for directions. When I tried Serial Number - F5D8236-4, it said something like
Code: [Select]
The F5D8236-4 will not allow you to forward enough ports, to run Blockland. You should try using the DMZ portion of this router if it is available. Alternatively you can try switching the router to bridged mode. You will need to contact your ISP to switch to bridged mode, so they can make the required changed on their end.
On the other hand, with Badspot's tutorial, he is using what looks to be Linksys(?). I may be wrong, but the router he is using is quite a bit different from mine. The interface and wording is just.. different.
His port forwarding ' page ' is like this :

Rather mine is like this : I don't know what program Skvdk really is, but I'd rather not change it.

I had heard that you didn't need to port forward after an update, ( I had been away since around v12 ), so I read up about the uPnP thing. I checked under Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services    that uPnP was indeed 'started ' :

Also, in game I made sure that uPnP was not disabled :

So.. yeah. If you need anything else to help me, feel free to ask and I will get the information to you as soon as possible. If you can find any tutorials for belkin routers on port forwarding, feel free to link me to them, ( although I had spent around thirty minutes just looking on google and searching the forums. ) Thanks for any help!

[Quick Information ]
- Belkin Router, Serial Number - F5D8236-4 v1
- uPnP enabled on computer, and enabled in game.

With the update it automatically port forwards for blockland.

No it doesn't.

I stopped reading when I got to this. lol

28000 to 28032

or

28000 to 28099

The last 2 digits in the second number represent how many people want to join.

The thing is, though, that I need help translating this :

to this wording or whatever. Just imagine the below image blank xD.

Probably should've added that..

I have no clue but it seems that you have a dynamic IP adress mabey because your IP adress sounds like it Changed :/

Isn't a dynamic IP only a problem if you have already port forwarded?

If you have a dynamic and you port forwarded already you will soon need to port forward again so you need a static IP

No edit in help?

Let me just add this as a sort of TL;DR.

I haven't port forwarded yet, and I am looking for a tutorial or guide on how to, or just another way to be able to host. My router port forwarding page looks like this :

I need to know how to port forward with that format. I would have used portforward.com, but they don't have my router on there.

That was the router port forward page that Badspot used on his guide.

Ok um it doesnt need to say V.! because that means it is the 1 version so it doent need to put the version number down (meansing you picked the right category) just follow the onscreen instructions and see if it works)

On Portforward.com?

So have you tried doing what that says and using DMZ?

All the portforward.com listing do is show you where to go in your router control panel. Looking around and finding it yourself is not hard.

Should DMZ be enabled? Doing what /what/ says? Also, looking around and finding.. what?

Does this look a bit correct? I had tried it and it didn't work.

The quote you posted about your router not being able to forward enough ports. Yes, try DMZ.

And no, that doesn't look right. The two boxes for ports are not for start and end of a port range as you're trying to do. You'll have to try DMZ.

Yes it says that but i made a fail i didnt press blockland yet but V.1 doesnt need to be showed though so your clicking the right one so its defentley your router
