Author Topic: Building a gaming rig. An overkill one to last me a while.  (Read 2839 times)

NOTE: READ THE THREAD, THERE HAVE BEEN SOME UPDATES TO PARTS :U

So guise. I felt the need to ask you guys on advice.
I have a list of parts I've compiled. I'm wondering if you guys think I should change anything, remove anything, add anything, etc.

I want to trim the price down a bit - my dad has agreed to pay some of it, but I don't know how much yet.

So the idea is to build a machine that will last you through college?

In all seriousness, jesus christ dude. What's the total price as of now? I'm too lazy to add it up myself.

This comes up to 2,814 dollars as it is.

Bamp. I want your guise's advice on this.

Is 24 gigs of RAM too much overkill? Because to do more than 16 gigs I need Windows Professional (included 2,814, forgot to put that in there, it's like 260 bucks).
So I figured if I downgraded to 16 gigs and then got Home Premium I'd be fine.
Don't know though. Would 16 gigs be good? Because I do a good amount of video editing and obviously gaming.

24 gigs is m-m-m-m-m-onsterkill.

Cut it down to 16 gigs and home premium - now 2704 dollars.

What do you guys think about the graphics and processor?
What bonuses does crossfiring provide, by the way?

You would probably be good with like 8gbs of RAM. Also, unless you plan on overclocking anything, don't get liquid cooling.

using SLI lets multiple graphics cards handle complex things together, so it definitely gives a performance boost of about twice as much, probably a bit less.

Why are you using Intel?

So should I downgrade the GPU but get 2 of them?
Why are you using Intel?
Because I like Intel. :u
I mean, I've never really been told one's better than the other.

I do want to overclock.

Well its just that you could get an AMD processor with 6 cores, 3.2ghz but for around 150-200 less..

Double post.
Skele, are you sure on the RAM? I wanna get a lot to last me a while. :u
Also, how do I overclock my stuff? No idea how.

Whut.
Where?
And is the performance lower?

Your price is already high as-is.  Get AMD.
