Author Topic: Can this computer run these games?  (Read 1478 times)

Can this computer run games such as Fallout 3 Fallout New Vegas APB Reloaded Left4Dead Left4Dead 2 TF2 Champions Online? I might be able to get that computer later this year and I think it should run most of the games without a hitch but I wanted to post this here just to be totally sure.

Integrated graphics means it won't be able to run the first three games on that list. It'll probably do source just fine, but no idea about that last one.

With integrated graphics, it will have issues with Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but should be okay with L4D, L4D2 and TF2. I'm not sure about Champions Online.

If you have any extra money, I would put it towards a dedicated GPU.

You know a computer company needs gullible customers when they list a GPU family as a GPU.
"ATI Radeon HD 3000", lol.
We'd really need to know what exact one, but it's not listed anywhere there. Anything upwards of say a 3650 would be able to play all the games listed on low detail at least (I've never really played Fallout games, so don't know how graphically intensive they are).

Worse processor but better GPU.
It'd be better for some games, but CPU intensive games like L4D could be a struggle.

Can someone find me a computer that can run most if not all of the games I mentioned, but costs $500 or less?

You can find one at the "stuff that doesn't exist store". Minimum requirements for those games will probably run you around 700 if you build the comp yourself.

With that processor, he'll be fine. It's not the highest end, but it will work fine.

Possibly the best you're gonna get for that price range without building one yourself.

My dad knows a friend from collage that knows alot about building computers, if I were to build my own computer what parts should I get? The price range for every part all together needs to stay under $500, the highest being $550.

I'll put together a list.
Any specific requests?

EDIT: Also, do you have any Windows disks lying around you could use? Windows really chews thru the budget lol. Preferably Windows 7 too.

Requests? Uh... I don't know much about computer parts, I just request that I can play at least Fallout 3/New Vegas, Oblivion, APB Reloaded, TF2*, Left4Dead(2), Global Agenda "Free Agent". Even if I have to lower the settings a bit I just want a computer that can run newer games without looking crappy but still running smoothly.

And no I don't think we have a Windows disk, my dad might of bought a W7 disk once but I dunno.

* I can run TF2 on my current PC but I have to have everything on low, I want to be able to play with good/great looking quality but also play smoothly without lag.

It would be great if you could find out definitely whether or not you have a windows disk.
If you had one, that's $100 we could put into better parts.

EDIT: Also, does your current computer have a DVD drive that could be recycled into the new computer?

a) Is a DVD drive the same as the thing I put game disks and stuff in? =\
b) How do I know if it can be "recycled"?
