You could try Crimzon Clover.
(Warning: More addicting than POLYBIUS, I learned that the hard way. xD)

It's not nothing more to see.
I seen games that is just like you said.

First:
Crimzon Clover let you have BREAK MODE and DOUBLE BREAK MODE (They are in all caps, It not me raging)

Second:
The game have music that is far better than Rush 2 Extreme Racing USA compared to the stupid Pre-K made music on some other Bullet Hell

Third:
The game also have a virtual shop where if you get 300,000 items points, you can get Unlimited Mode which is the hardest difficulty set.

Forth:
If you play the game (any mode) without using continues, you encounter the Final Boss, which is harder than Queen Larsa from Mushihimesama Futura Black Label

Fifth:
The game have unique and easy controls, in fact, so simple that you can put these controls on a Super Nintendo Controller.

YOU'RE MAD?

Mount & Blade. It has infinite replayability due to infinite leveling, randomized quests, and constant wars between kingdoms.

Cave story.
Very good story line. You might beat it depending on how good you are at platforming games.

I went to a computer based camp this summer (olol i geek) and there were some people there who could play it and I watched them for hours, fascinated at how good they were, they killed every goddamn thing with traps and got free food.
