Buildbot

I would love to have this!
I prefer to build the old fashioned way!
This mod will ruin all the fun in blockland!

Author Topic: Buildbot - Load saves without admin - Beta Release Almost Here!  (Read 13123 times)

i tryed this (dont ask how people) with deactivated roatating on a pixel art build, disabled rotation (comment line ftw) and it loaded literally 10x faster.

Pixel art has no rotation, what do you mean?

Now try it with non-square-top bricks.

This will revolutionize loading on other servers. Instead of waiting for the save file to upload, you just use this and ask the host to set timescale to 2.

Can you actually do that though with this mod? And post ASAP, the suspense is unbearable.

That would increase the speed of the loading tick, but it is currently designed to build at the speed of the ping to the server, and timescale would not affect that.  I doubt this would work anyway, since macro speeds do not change when the timescale changes.

I think you're missing the option: "This mod would piss off server hosts who don't want little noobs loading builds randomly."

If you're going to release this, you better make it so server hosts can disable its usage, otherwise you're just griefing server hosts. If players were meant to load bricks without admin, they'd be able to do it already.

This would be the best solution, but I would think the whole mod would be kind of pointless because of the grant load trust add-on. Or ate least I think there is one.
I think it just makes it so if someone has your build trust or full trust they can load bricks or something.

This mod will:
-Not load ownership
-Probably wont load wrenched properties

So just load normally if you have the power.

Nothing that can't already be spammed with macros, which come with the game.  I could write a server script that would break this in two minutes, but that would also remove some functionality from the game altogether, and then I would feel obliged to write a work-around for BuildBot, which would be considerably more complex.

In the end, BuildBot would still work, but then it would be laggier and some other things on the server would be broken and everyone would be unhappy.

Oh, duh.

Also maybe you could do a half-private release, such as releasing just on here since noobs don't come by here that much. Or host/post the file on some obscure add-on/BL blog/forum and link it here.

So much for releasing at 7/14.

"Nothing that can't already be spammed with macros", Can't and won't are two different things. Buildbot makes it rediculously easy to load massive scale builds, any gibblet could load something big and annoying. Whereas if you want to load a macro, you have to first save it. And saving massive builds brick by brick by recording a macro is so tedious that nobody in their right mind would attempt it. Keeping it from being annoying.

I think a solution would be to make the entire mod server-sided, and have it require permission from the host or an active admin before a load can be used. For example: Someone tries to use it, a request is sent to a super admin, that can be denied or approved. That would keep the mod as being useful, and solve the abuse problem.

Aww Rykuta.
Don't ruin the fun. I like it being kept Client-Side.

When will you release it?
