Forced to go to church next Sunday

Yep, it's my grandma's birthday and she wants us all to go to church. Being a highly religious person (btw, in some people religious level = ignorance level, which she also has high amounts of) this didn't surprise me. My mom's only response when I asked her why I needed to go she said "You need to learn about God."

I, for one, am not a religious person. I chose not to go to church, simply because I never really wanted to. I also don't like my beliefs and wishes walked all over simply because I "need" to learn about God.

So yeah, discuss without starting a flame war.

Really? Why can't you just go and make your grandma happy? I go to church when there's a memorial for my grandparents' death. Not because I believe in Christianity, but out of respect.

None of my family is religious. When I was in foster care (damned father) if I didn't go I would get slapped AND it all was in spanish so I just looked around for nothing the whole time. I was the only one under 16 there ;_;

Do it for her, but not for yourself. I had to go to church when my parents made me stay with my relatives. I didn't care for anything that happened during it. I've grown up in such a way that God is too loving illogical to believe in. Hell, you can't explain utter everything but God is not an explanation. It sounds like insanity, because it still goes wrong.

Oh BTW, I use God and Hell in our common use. Not in religious use. :3

I strongly dislike the entire concept of religion, too, but if one of my friends was to hold a birthday party, for instance, at a church, I would go.
