Author Topic: Fly infestation - forget  (Read 2477 times)

I don't know how, but we have a major fly infestation. It was probably my Dad with his "I want to be like my Dad and barbeque every weekend." (Which he always severely burns the food) which leaves the door open, but every day we get these HUGE flies. But now, it's gone BAD. I went into the kitchen to see my Mom, and I see like 10-12 large flies just going around the room. I don't know how she was standing it so quietly, it was insane. We have a small kitchen.

Why am I posting? Because we need a safe way to rid ourselves of a horde of flies. Something we can use around food, and isn't expensive or seemingly extreme.

ESPECIALLY SAFE AROUND CATS. We used to have glue traps for mice, and he got stuck in one. Shredded it up, had to oil it out of his fur.

Bomb all the rooms in your house. I'm serious. There is this bomb stuff that you use in a room that kills pretty much all bugs. I can't remember if they still made this because the last time I heard of these was 03.

EDIT: They're called "Flea bombs" but they are for fly's and other bugs too. Get them at home depot.

FUUUU-

May be worth buying a small hand-held bug zapper and taking them out slowly but surely. Using insect sprays throughout the house is an obvious start. Make sure there are no food scraps or ways for the flies to eat. May want to search for an answer online, here is one I found.

Keep food in containers and keep the food from being exposed for too long...

Those sticky fly traps should work.

We have those, but it won't work for this many all having a mind of their own. They forget before they get stuck.

We live in the food being left out... We'll always forget. My Dad leaves it out all the time.

Please read my post. It might save your entire house.

A bug bomb is the first solution. About 15 dollars a pack if I am correct. You need to evacuate the house for a couple hours due to the toxic spray. I'll smell a bit funny but if you follow the instructions and heed the warnings then it should get rid of them.

I already said this.

Leave out dish soap + water mixture
Ignore it for a week
????
Profit

Use your hands and smack them.  A clap to us is a sonic boom to them.

Then learn to live with them. If you won't treat the source and put the effort in, don't complain.
