Germany was allied with Austria while hungary was allied with russia.

Austria was in a war with hungary so Germany steps in. Russia who is allied with hungary goes to war with Germany for getting in the middle of Austria and Hungary.

France was allied with Russia and germany asks if France will remain neutral, France does not respond. Germany attacks france out of fear.

Germany marches their troops through Belgim to get to France.

Britain who was allied with Belgim saw this as starting a war with Belgim so they declared war on Germany.

Then France Ferdinand was assassinated and then that sparked everything into WW1.
