Author Topic: EA is loving stupid.  (Read 6129 times)

Years of over hype ruins everything.

Duke Nukem Forever had years of hype and if the game were released sooner it probably would had done better.

Duke Nukem Forever actually had less than a years worth of development time. The other 13 years was just game engine changes and licensing changing from company to company. It was just a last second thing Gearbox pulled to get money and it sadly worked.

Also five bucks says Origin is going to be a resource hog and neglected like GFWL. GFWL has never once received a single update and is complete stuff overall.

Half-Life was released in 1998. Half-Life 2 was released in 2004. That's 6 years between and Half-Life 2 didn't suck.

EA LOGIC:

Already highly populated and used cloud software? Let's instead develop our own cloud system that no one will use and waste money on servers instead of just licensing our game with Steam to a bigger community.
It's not completely flawed logic. They have a big market to tap into, it just depends if they do it right.

>love c&c3 tiberium wars
>buy and try c&c4
>uninstall that same month

> Huge fan of C&C series
> Dad buys latest C&C for XBox 360
> Play for five minutes
> It now collects dust somewhere

Also why do people even bother creating RTS games for consoles, it's loving impossible to control and I was sick and tired of the constant frame rate drops which is pretty sad since the graphics weren't even that good.

i do like however how my xbox LIVE account is linked to my windows live.
probably the only useful feature.

actually, the Halo Wars console RTS wasn't that terrible.
i mean, sure i still would've prefered it on PC, but microsoft wants to be friends and not release it for that platform.

Because not many people were expecting a sequel.

EA raped the great Sim City by making Societies.

im fine with rtses for consoles

but honestly c&c4 is the most worthless piece of rtstuff ive ever played, the online balancing sucks, theres no tiberium expeneses, its just spamming low tier units, and theres no base building

Not to mention that I'm never buying a Gearbox Software game again.

Also I swear to loving jesus if Bethesda ruins IdSoftware's RAGE I'm going to personally kick every single employee in the nads. They already forgeted stuff up by making RAGE use GFWL.

that is the only franchise by EA i've ever enjoyed for more than 2 months.

the Halo Wars basing system was basically a huge platform with a command center in the middle and smaller subplatforms you plant small stuff on, like a barracks or a factory.

of course though there was always two neutral bases for capture, usually bumforgeted with rebels.

When I heard CnC3 was going to consoles, I was like 'oh my loving god who's idea was that'.

It's a PC genre and it should stay a PC genre.  Very few RTS games can be done on the console, i.e. Halo Wars (albeit it sucked anyway really).

The graphics were probably bad because of the TV resolutions.  I play it on max settings on my PC, they all look nice.  The game is capped at 30 FPS at maximum though.

>no base building
>Command & Conquer

I didn't even try it.  Not at all.

forget that.  I'd rather not get all the achievements and increase my "gamer score" e-peen instead of having to fuss with GFWL.  It's a piece of stuff.  Every time I start up Dawn of War 2 it tries to sign in, fails and needs me to apparently tell it to sign in even though I checked "auto sign in".  It's also completely slow and takes much longer than Steamworks.  Thank God DoW2 retribution dropped GFWL.

aw forget last post on this page its gonna get ignored

Yes but Publishers often choose how they're going to market the game. Just like EA is doing with BF3. Are you handicapped or something?

IdSoftware is my childhood hero and I know they'd never voluntarily use GFWL.

i meant it was useful because i could still communicate with my xbox LIVE friends from my windows if i dont have my console.

i take it the game was an utter disappointment?
