My theory on why hamachi was used:

This "mau5" told us (Mack, Beachbum, and I) he was in the UK because he forgot a component for his laptop. He is stuck there due to a storm there. The hotel's router probably won't allow him to port forward the laptop. He was smart enough to use Hamachi in the first place if he wanted to do this.

Blockland will work there due to the UPnP.

I never thought it was real.
And just because deadmou5 plays Minecraft doesn't mean it's really him on Minecraft.
One could easily fake his name with Minecraft on Hamachi, because he could run it in offline mode, so ti doesn't have to authenticate the name with the Minecaft master server.
