I don't understand why anyone would want to spend 8hrs a day 180 days a yr for 12-13 years in a government ran institution.
Wouldn't you rather learn the subjects that interest you in the format that works best for you?

Wouldn't you rather meet a wide range of people through real life situations instead of being forced to socialize with those who live in you immediate area and were born within the same 12 month period as you?

Quote
Wouldn't you rather pick your vacation schedule instead of having to vacation when some government bureaucrat decides you should?

Quote
Wouldn't you rather eat, drink and use the bathroom when your body needs to instead of on a schedule set by others?

Neither, I was raised and taught by wolves.

Neither, I was raised and taught by wolves.

That explains a lot.

I'm home-schooled due to disabilities and I like it.

Public school sucks mostly due to the lack of specialisation.
I am in one of the highest grades in my school, and yet we share our playground with the lower schooled.
You get 3 guesses what happens.
Oh yes and the school doesn't do forget about people fighting etc.

interests have nothing to do with a good education. and custom curriculum formats per student is stupid. unless you can hook us all up to machines and press a button to learn.

it is inefficient and impossible to have a teacher per stupid. therefore you teach in bulk. regardless of public or private.

forget YEAH DEATH TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS!!!

I am happy with my public school education.

11 years of definite education on subjects that the government has decided I should learn, ones that I should learn and that the colleges, the universities and the employers in my country is looking for.

And I get good feedback from actual teachers.

I get a sense of community and socialisation with people I know and can physically meet.

I legally have to be taught Sciences. I legally have to be taught Religious Education. I legally have to be taught English and a foreign language and computer sciences. I legally have to have 2 hours of Physical Education a week.

All these things that are good for me and that will prepare me for the outside world.

I wouldn't trade public education for anything in the world.
But that doesn't mean it can't be improved.

forget that stuff.

against

I for one don't like public schools

"do this worksheet, oh and while you're at it here's another worksheet and in the meantime you can do this worksheet too."

Well, ok.
Enjoy being taught without sciences, or on the otherhand, being entirely religious intolerant.

Enjoy having no physical activity, because you just stay at home all day and no one forces you to get off your backside and do anything.

Enjoy your lack of literary skills.

Enjoy your ability to pick what you want to learn, and miss out on something that colleges and employers want from you, because you decided it wasn't interesting.

Bad teachers set worksheets.

All of my science lessons have been based around actually being taught something, taking notes, maybe there is a worksheet in there, but you've still spent this time discussing with your class and your teacher about the lesson.

All of my English lessons have been based around actually being taught things about English.
Actually brown townysing literal texts and being able to comment on them, and brown townyse them in essays.
And learning how to dissect poetry and stories and work out how they're written. (although, at times this is fake)

My math's classes have all been based around "Here's a textbook full of questions, go through them, learn how to do what topic we're doing".
But the teacher spends the lesson explaining how to do it and properly teaching.

Even my RE classes have been based around debate, at times.

Why the forget would you want to be locked up in a hell hole prison that does nothing but brainwash you and force you to learn mostly useless stuff that is of no use in the real world when you can easily choose your own curriculum rather then be stuck in a prison with a bunch of dumbass hormonal teenagers, DEATH BEFORE PUBLIC SCHOOL BITCH!

I don't think it's that bad.

Neither, I was raised and taught by wolves.

Odd...

I'm hating my public school now. They're good with learning, but they put on this bullstuff laptop program, which replaces text books. It costs you 300 dollars per year, and they don't replace the laptops every year either with new ones.

People were literally shouting and cussing at the public meeting about this feature, but they still confirmed we would be using laptops.
