Author Topic: Help: Computer Crashes when trying to connect to Wireless Network.  (Read 1232 times)

My Mom installed a beta test of F-Secure 2012 on this computer. I went to play MapleStory, and it would keep closing within 30 seconds. After this, I attempted to open Firefox, which never made it to opening. I thusly closed all the programs of F-Secure, but it still occurred. I used Unlocker on the files, and found that it had latched into EVERYTHING on my computer. So I tried to uninstall it, but no uninstaller. I went to Add/Remove Programs, but it gave an error. Then my Sister showed the Uninstaller link on the site - EXCEPT THE LINK WAS BROKEN. Having no other way, I manually uprooted the program piece by piece using Unlocker to get it out.

Then, I get this "Limited or No Connectivity" warning on the adapter. restarting, but it won't connect anymore. So I think "One of those things must have latched into it and broke it. I'll have to reinstall drivers." I go to reinstall, and I suddenly can't boost past the BIOS screen with the flashing text cursor. Can't even get into Safe Mode. My sister eventually gets me to put the Windows XP disc into the drive, which lets me load, but now I'm getting errors on load. I try to fix it, and then every time I load I get blue screens. I go into Safe Mode and uninstall the Wireless Adapter., and it lets me load regularly again.

I try to fix it, but when it tries to connect, my computer blue screens whilst it is "Detecting Network Type..." Note that I opened my computer twice whilst this to try and get it working (getting model number and such). Lost my monitor for a bit during it.

It is a PCI Wireless Adapter from like 2004. Yes, seven years old. I'm using the USB Wireless Adapter that's supposed to go to my new computer to make this topic. Any help with this?

Wow... Can I get help with this?

Im trying to think...
Maybe its a virus?

I looked up this F-Secure "2012" stuff, but I thought we were still in 2011?  I don't understand why companies try to look like they're from the future or something, it's like they think we don't own calendars.

Anyways, from the sound of it and the fact that it latched onto everything, I would suggest a clean sweep of your wireless adapter's drivers.  It probably did something stupid like any other anti-virus.

Next time don't let your parents install any stupid anti-virus software that tries to instate a totalitarian regime onto your computer.

Its early development so they can release it on time. Many Antivirus companies do this, and maybe other software companies as well.

Anyway, recognize that it is in beta development and won't be as stable. You should uninstall it, and wait until later development where it will be more stable.
Although if you prefer not to uninstall you can ask their forum (If they have one).

I used Unlocker to detach it from everything with Delete function. It actually kept restarting Windows Explorer when it turned off, after I had forced their services off. After a few runs, I got all the files out. I then went to All Users and cleared it out of there. I ran a Registry cleaner to clear the old registries of it. And I removed it from Start > Programs.

Again, the uninstallation for it didn't exist. Not even Add/Remove Programs could  get it out. The Uninstallation Tool link they provided was broken. As such, I did the above, uprooting it piece-by-piece. Probably a bad idea.

"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA"

I tried to connect with the old wireless card, and I got blue screen with the above error. Does that help?

It would be nice if you posted EVERYTHING the blue screen said.

The only other thing was that STOP error with all those numbers. And it doesn't stay the same... I also don't want to blue screen again. This computer is stuff loading up. Everything freezes on startup for like a good 10-15 minutes, something to do with internet in general because accessing Network Connections stops the Explorer window...

Like I've been saying on MSN, this is a memory error.

Also, the numbers are the most useful part of the BSOD.

Just do it, some blue screens will display what the issue is.

Well, my sister wrote down the other numbers we had. Probably the same one, but she kept going quiet and yelling "I don't know what to Google!" instead of explaning what it meant. I guess I could ask her where she has it.

But I hate feeling helpless whilst this computer reloads and literally nearly everything freezes up. :panda:

Ughh, is there a file name anywhere on the blue screen?

No, and never has been. I would remember something I could personally track down like that.

I found this post. The top of the topic lists both blue screen errors I get. And this post talks about a firewall causing it. If this is the case, it would seem it is F-Secure that did this. The only problem now is figuring out how to fix that...

You should probably stop torrenting research
