Author Topic: Forwarded ports on wifi, can't host on laptop.  (Read 522 times)

I forwarded my ports on my Apple Airport Express router, and I can host on my iMac late 2006 model without a hitch, but if I try to host on my laptop, which is a Sony Vaio laptop with Windows 7, I cannot host. It simply doesn't let people connect. Any ideas anyone at all?

you have to set it up for the other computer too

static IP and new port forwards for the IP and such

Oh, I might not have forwarded it correctly, as I forwarded the ports for IP 10.0.1.2 and it worked on my mac, but not IP 10.0.1.1 or 1.0.1.3. Either of those might be my laptop's IP.

open cmd and type in ipconfig

Look for where it tells you your IPv4 address (probably near the top)
That is the local IP of your computer.  You need to forward your ports so it sends the data coming in through your router's port to that IP address

Also, if you want to be able to host on both computers, the second port forwarding entry for your laptop will need to be on different ports, and you will need to change the port in your blockland server settings to the same port.

Thats for two servers at once isn't it?

Anyway, each pc or laptop or whatever on your network (LAN) has a different IP so you need to portforward both IP addresses OR reassign the IPs every time you want to host on a different machine. The latter is a stupid idea.

It doesn't let you forward the same ports twice.
