Author Topic: METAL (No Metallica or Iron Maiden bullstuff)  (Read 11130 times)

i was being sarcastic, but still, that's not metal or heavy metal.

Screaming doesn't make it not metal. Death metal is what you call a sub-genre. Metal is a genre. Death metal is a sub-genre of metal.

I also prefer to listen to music with some sort of...purpose...

I mean, what the hell? SCATOLOGY HOMEWORK?

Lyrics from Poison the Well's, "Loved Ones"

Sit across from you, why are we even here?
There is no way to make up for the 20 years.
I love trying to make conversation when I could careless of what you're
doing,
what are you doing? And I know you never cared 'till now.
All my days go back to when you would scream.
And it froze me.
Guess the screaming runs in the family.
You look tired and run-down. Are you even excited to see your baby boy?
Put a razor to the skin 'till we don't resemble each other anymore.
Sit across from you, why are we even here?
There is no way to make up for the 20 years.
So now I see the tears welling up, finally you care I've waited all my life
for this.
It's always been over, it's always been over, it's always been over for us.
A single tear, a last resort for all who've never felt.
Sit across from you, why are we even here?
There is no way to make up for these 20 years.
If I could flip this table I'd stab you with every word that lied its way
out of your head.

Lyrics from Cryptopsy's, "Open Face Surgery"

I've learned to control my thoughts
ever since I recognized the first eavesdropper:
those who listen in on my thoughts,
my logic, my sanity

I cannot let them know I don't know
the verses, or converse in my head:
lash out at future foes,
banter with friends I've not yet met

The psychoaggressive minions of
your lord mock with laugher I can't hear,
with hidden scowls they admonish me

Nothing's sacred, Nothing's safe:
your filthy god is omnipresent,
this undying nonentity that haunts
my every waking dream

They watch me, his mortal flock,
they know me now by sight alone:
my thoughts are too well concealed...
Yet I sense more scrutiny

Fleeting lucidity's too loud for me,
let me be my silent self:
our existences irreconciled

Make them stop! I'm rotting fast...
The answer, painful though it may be,
is change

Alter my outer shell...
The listener's may not, then, know it's me
Open Face Surgery: short of pain
and long on masquerade
Ounce by ounce, lose a little weight
nip here, tuck there... So who needs eyelids?

Lyrics from The Acacia Strain's, "The Carpathian"

I am the white horse that death rode in on, I drove the first nail in the cross
Assume the worst and pray for the best, we are all the Antichrist
You are the plague, you're filled with disease and you ruin lives
You are the plague, get down on your knees and loving die
I have come to do the Devil's work
No one is here to forgive you for your sins
I am the white horse that death rode in on, I drove the first nail in the cross
Assume the worst and pray for the best, we are all the Antichrist
You are the plague, you're filled with disease and you ruin lives
You are the plague, get down on your knees and loving die
You are the plague, you're filled with disease and you ruin lives
You are the plague, get down on your knees and loving die
I have come to do the Devil's work
No one is here to forgive you for your sins
I am the white horse that death rode in on, I drove the first nail in the cross
Assume the worst and pray for the best, we are all the Antichrist

I see plenty of meaning in all three of those songs. And as a matter of fact, Cryptopsy's was the only one I needed to read the lyrics for. As well, there are plenty of bands I have that are not metal that I need the lyrics book for. (Cold War Kids, Fair to Midland, Bright Eyes, etc.)

I would have to look at lyrics to understand what he's saying.
While it's not as bad as most of the songs you've suggested, none of what he says is audible.

It's odd, 90% of the time I can understand what someone says while they're screaming, but only about 20% of the time when they're singing.

That's what happens when you strain your ears to listen to garbage like this.

You are in our thread while you don't like this genre, we respect that.
You get in here to tell your own opinion, we respect that.
But don't you come here to insult a thing that we like even though obviously, this thread is dedicated to this.

I'm accused of being deaf for not understanding what someone is screaming at me?

Dead Skin Mask by Slayer.

Dead Skin Mask by Slayer.
How does that even sound remotely appealing to listen to?

In my thread, not yours.

I can say whatever the forget I want, lol.

I'm only stressing Whoda's point of you coming to someone else's thread and whining about it.

I'm not whining about it.
You seem to think that if I'm not like you then what I say must not be right.
That's fine that you've accustomed yourself to music like this, but don't accuse me of not understanding a person who is screaming for 3 minutes about who knows what.
