A:Do I get credit for being right then changing my answer?
B:I wonder if this thread will make it to 288 posts
A: No.
B: It already made it past two. :iceCream:
I think we can all agree the real idiot is the guy who got 36 on the first page

like, come on.
Not an idiot, just a silly person. VERY silly.

yeah that makes even less sense than 2

The reason I created this thread is because I realize that so many people have an incorrect knowledge of order of operations. I was thinking of a way to fix this and I decided the best way would be to make a thread like this.

We all just learned stuff! :D

It's not really an issue of order of operations for everyone except the huge idiots, for most people it's an issue of deciding whether or not (9+3) is in the denominator. Nice try though.

what the forget

according to the order of operations, you do the problem in the parenthesis first. 9+3 = 12, then 48/2 is 24, plus 12 is 36
here is his explanation

Why did he add twelve?

We all just learned stuff! :D
no we didn't
some of us (e.g. me) weren't wrong the first time

No.

The problem is that people are doing multiplication BEFORE division.

Making a thread like this makes people realize their mistake and never do it again.

Waitwaitwait.

What the forget.

What do you mean, "(9+3) is in the denominator".

Why did he add twelve?

instead of PEMDAS he uses IDGAF  :cookieMonster:

And me. :3

Yes, BECAUSE they think it's in the denominator. You're just looking at a symptom of the real problem :-/

Nobody thought that.

Only you did.

Scarily, I instantly figured out what that meant.

I don't give a narwhal. But with an f.
