My cousin needs help picking a laptop.

Alright so my cousin is planning on buying a new laptop for college. He tells me he wants a Macbook but from what I hear on here, they're overpriced. So I need your expert opinions to help him decide.
Reasons for wanting an Mac is:
OSX
More sturdy

Also his budget is around $800 and he likes HP too.

This, with at least the 6770M video card. I know it's a tad over budget, but worth it.

since im seeing acers, i remembered something about my mom's laptop
it has a 1.2 ghz processor and an almost 2GB graphics card
they don't mix together
