don't look at research and don't view bad websites.
I don't though.

The only problem is these forums. And I'm scared she'll make me leave, after the two incidents I've had when she found my BLF account.

Wait, she doesn't want you playing a Universe simulator, but she lets you play GTA? lol

She thinks Steam will destroy my laptop.

I know you're joking and all. But sometimes I wish I could go outside and play. I basically have no immune system anymore.

Wait, what? You have an autoimmune disease?

stuff, I'm sorry...

You need to ask her why she thinks they are malacious. Tell her that millions of people use those softwarez and no one has gotten a virus. Approach it casually and you won't die.

Yes. And for some reason mine is severe where as everyone I've met who had it only had it mildly or moderately...

I always thought it was a chronic disease, but it's actually an autoimmune disease. Go figure.

First off, Google Chrome is certainly not a virus.  My tip:  Show her the reviews for some of these programs, especially Chrome.  I doubt there will be any downright terrible reviews unless they are trolling.  Also tell her that it is paranoid to think that all these programs are viruses.  Millions upon millions of people use these programs.  And about the system restore, you recently said that everyone in the house uses that laptop.  If everyone uses it, it can be anyone's fault.(Do not attempt to single out ONE person)  It can also be the crapload of memory used up on it.  Laptops aren't that powerful.

Sounds like my mother in the argument topic, ill often think up entire well thought damaging arguments on the rare occasion we clash only to hesitate and not say it, speaking out of term in my household is apprently high treason

I've convinced my parents multiple times I know waaay more about computers than they ever will.
Which is sad, because I'm not even that good. lol

This thread makes me glad that my parents actually listen to me when it comes to computers.

OP: Your mom sounds like an idiot. Why not point her to these:
http://download.cnet.com/Google-Chrome/3000-2356_4-10881381.html
http://www.softpedia.com/reviews/windows/Google-Chrome-Review-198445.shtml
Both are reviews, and both are 5 stars.

Well, first off I was having computer problems and I had to do a system restore. My mom thinks that Google Chrome is a malicious virus software so she won't let me use that. And there is no way I would use Internet Explorer. So I switched over to Firefox. (It actually runs very smoothly).

And now she won't let me use Steam. So now I can't play TF2, Gmod, Universe sandbox or L4D2. She's also on the verge of not letting me use Roblox, Minecraft or Blockland. I luckily talked her out of not letting me play GTA SA.

I just hope she doesn't take away any more of my favorite games.

Discuss. :panda:
Funny, just yesterday I had my grandfather recommend google chrome.
Of course I already knew what it was, but the point is, you're mother is uniquely ignorant.

You have forgeted up parents bro.

I found a research CD at my house laying around the house at home.  :cookieMonster:

ah ok.

there was one mom who apparently thought books were portals to hell or something
VOLDERMORT DID IT.

This is a frustrating generation. There's a huge technology gap between most of us and our parents. We grew up at the perfect time to get into modern technology, while most of our parents were too busy or uninterested to get involved. With Google and the rest of the internet, we can know more than their parents for the first time. Kids used to just believe whatever their parents said, but as soon as we reach the age where we have some form of internet freedom, we ask Google instead of our parents, and the chances are better that we'll get the right answer. I think a lot of parents weren't prepared for this, so they just automatically assume that they're right.
