wat? was around way before that

nope. roman empire 3XX-AD

why dont you force us to believe what you do? your god tells you to.
or do you just ignore that part oif the bible as well?

god didnt tell you to educate, he tells you to convert people. by all means.
I am trying to make you believe it, bastard. I hate to curse, but I do what I must and what I can. So shut up. I don't want to kindle an argument like this.
Let's not even bother, more than half this forum is atheist. I'll pry for y'all.
I'll pray for you guys too.

Implying that Cristianity caused the Dark Ages, not the fall of the Roman Empire to barbarians.
The christian emperors were the ones that it fell under.

nope. roman empire 3XX-AD
according to the church, the catholic church was founded by Jesus at the Confession of Peter

whether or not you want to believe that is up to you, but solid historical evidence says that the church existed at least by 50 AD

Catholicism was the first christian church, the breakoff of other denominations DID occur around 700 years ago

The rest of the world should have picked up where the Romans left off, but it was muffled by the rise of the Christian religion.

Huh. Oh well, I guess I was wrong

Christianity is a pretty dangerous thing if you look at it the way I did. I was wasting my life and peace of mind as a Christian, constantly fearing that monster in the sky who wanted everything to be just right or it was damnation up the ass. I wasn't even free in my own mind. I have a right to think what I want, no one gets to judge my private unspoken thoughts, except for god. I gradually went down a steep hill and it's a wonder I escaped with my sanity.

Those last few weeks before I became an atheist were some of the most unhappy, stressful and counterproductive times of my life.

The rest of the world should have picked up where the Romans left off, but it was muffled by the rise of the Christian religion.
Poor timing. :c

jesus started a following but that wasnt christianity. it was just him leading Judaism in a new direction, but wasnt taking. (was illegal, derp his death)
christianity the religion was a study and celebration OF jesus. one of the handful of popular beliefs in the failing roman empire.
the books of bible assembled and founded YEARS after his death.

Yeah. As for my religious view, going back to the topic name, i've never stated it.

I don't believe in heaven, and god, and hell, because they all seem so illogical with the explanations science has given me. But I still believe we are all here for a reason:

To solve puzzles. To advance ourselves. to bring us further than we ever were before. To explore the galaxy. To do wonderful things. We all only have 1 life: We all need to make that 1 life count.

jesus started a following but that wasnt christianity.

Implying Christianity is the following of the Bible not Jesus lol. If it was about the Bible it would be Bibliology.

Poor timing. :c

We could have been flying in loving space ships. Really, really, REALLY poor timing.

Quote
Catholic tradition holds that the Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ. The New Testament records Jesus' activities and teaching, his appointment of the twelve Apostles, and his instructions to them to continue his work.

of course that's just catholicism, i cant speak for everybody here

We do fly in space ships. And the chance that FTL will ever exist is really low.

medical science took the hardest hit during those times.
religion left and right banned it from study and from practice.

its easier to think you are dying from god's plague, then a disease from horrible living.
the solution? pay the church and the empire more taxes. get back into god's favor lol
