Longest I've been in a car was about 6 to 8 hours, it was loving awful.

Regardless of what you bring, your ass will probably start aching eventually and you'll become really tired from sitting down. Bring a blanket or something to wedge under your backside because an ACHING ASS IS AWFUL on a road trip.
Bring music too. Lotz. Sometimes its nice to just listen to a song and look out the window.

EDIT: Also, if you bring a laptop it'll be gay. Its annoying to use 'em because they vibrate on your lap and there is little room. Netbooks are good for this stuff.

If you have an iPod touch stock it with games, music and books.

That's how I pass the time in a car.
