not like he has many choices

Exactly this.

Most people here don't appreciate the availability of high class Internet in their states. All these people saying 'change ISP' as if its that easy; I'd like to see you convince your parents who are paying the bills to switch ISP. You guys never think. V_V

You honestly think he'd even have to TRY to convince his parents to change ISP after paying a $2700 bill? wtf?

Nope. Because if his parents are normal people, not from the fantasy idealistic realms of Fredulus, they will kick him off the Internet for good.

you are unbelievably handicapped.

you are unbelievably handicapped.

Oh, and why is that?

You think after what he has done to their bill, they will change up their Internet plans just to suit him? They are his parents, they probably buy the Internet for themselves and not him; the easy solution is to stop him from using it, bill solved.

As usual, discussions here use unrealistic shorted sighted logic. If being realistic makes me handicapped, then so be it. Obviously you don't have a counter statement since your only response is a blatant insult.

of course they shouldn't change ISP to suit him, dumbass, they should change ISP because they're being charged $2700 and no matter how much you go over on your plan your bill should never be that much.

even if they kick him off the internet (which is impossible, unless he's stupid), they could still go over on their own.

speaking of shortsighted discussions, you HONESTLY think they can kick him off the internet until he moves out into his own place? dumbass.

Surprisingly, Comcast is actually available in the major areas of Alaska.
don't do this unless you absolutely have too.

What are you not getting?

He was blamed for the bill, and from what he has been saying about his Internet history rightly so. So he takes the penalty.

Take your half baked thinking and unnecessary aggression elsewhere.

Unless he is stupid? He suggested Youtube isn't a form of downloading, I wouldn't hold out much hope.

We are talking about parents here. Ethical or not, he will take the blame. So all this gibberish about him sorting out a new ISP is unbelievably silly.

EDIT: Also, lets not throw in a meaningless hypothetical of the parents going over.

speaking of shortsighted discussions, you HONESTLY think they can kick him off the internet until he moves out into his own place? dumbass.

Who said until he moves out? That was just you.

All I see is you getting frustrated and spewing insults (the same one, at that). Can't be that secure about your opinion then. Not looking good on your part, buddy.

I'm thought all ISPs were flat rate.
I call BS
a lot of isps in rural areas have data caps (usually 250gb or 500gb), and they'll charge you more or just cut off your internet if you go over.

Some also limit your data speed, so you get 5kb speeds after the data cap (for example).

Why kick him off the internet if it's just going to be for a month or so? that does no good at all, the next month he'll just be even more eager to use it and use even more. If you're going to kick him off as punishment you can't half-ass it.

And would you honestly stick with an ISP that charges $2700 when you go over? I mean, how stupid do you have to be to not see that's horrible?

For a month or so? Did you ever have parents? To jog your memory, they make unfair decisions that screw you over. This will be no exception.

I haven't read through this whole topic, but I am reasonably certain he isn't regularly charged that much when the cap is hit. This is an anomaly, which unsurprisingly has happened after apparent indulgence in data from the OP. There is no mystery involved.

What they should do is query the bill to ensure they weren't over-charged as a first step. Its easy to tell someone what to do when its not you doing it.
